MLB Rookie Card Stat Tracker – 05/08/2024

Every week we will publish stats for the 2023 and 2024 “Rookie Card” class. The objective is to track the 2024 season stats for every player that has a RC designation in the 2023 & 2024 Topps Flagship Set! Each set will be broken up into separate categories (hitting & pitching) for each year!

As a new addition to the rookie card stat tracker, we have created a web app that you can use to get up to the minute stats on the 2023 and 2024 Rookie Card class! You can find the app here! Below we will list the top 5 in each category for each year. Enjoy!

*All stats will be calculated through Sunday games
**All stats gathered using Fangraphs
as source
***Players shown have a minimum 1 plate appearance at MLB level. Players who do not have at least 1 PA do not make the list!

****Top 5 is based on WAR (open the link for the new app to see other stats!)

Top 5 – 2023 Rookie Card Hitters

Quick look: Gunnar keeps the top spot but Riley Greene is surging! Brice Turang made a nice leap, as Volpe fell back a bit, along with Patrick Bailey falling out of the top 5. Josh Smith enjoys an appearance in the top 5 on the back of a nice .302 AVG.

Top 5 – 2023 Rookie Card Pitchers

Quick Look: Cole Ragans hangs on to the top spot as he picked up a win in the past week. Mason Miller is still the closer du jour with an impressive 18.21 K/9! As predicted, Cody Bradford fell out of the top 5, and Javier Assad is still hanging around.

Top 5 – 2024 Rookie Card Hitters

Quick Look: Not much change here as Elly still leads the charge for the 2024 Rookie Card class. Keep an eye on Westburg, as he has shown the most consistency so far, and could overtake Cowser any week now! Jordan has the highest Hard Hit and lowest K rate of the bunch. A lot to like there!

Top 5 – 2024 Rookie Card Pitchers

Quick Look: Reese Olson still can’t buy a win, but threw another impressive outing this past week. Abbott surges up to the three spot and it may only be a matter of weeks before we see him at the top of the race!

Need Penny Sleeves? Here is a discounted lot, they are going fast though!!
How about Top Loaders? Here is 100 Ultra Pro discounted! Why not save and grab a case here?!?!?

These and these are my new favorite additions to my shipping arsenal! Make damaged cards a thing of the past! (They both work great!)

Tip #1: If you are looking for a display case, I just bought two of these and like them a lot. Sturdy enough for the price and they look nice, better yet, they won’t break the bank!
Tip #2: After attending a local card show I noticed all the cool kids have one of these! A slab case definitely makes carrying your graded cards around with you a bit easier!
