The objective with this post is to track the 2024 season stats for every player that has a RC designation in the 2023 & 2024 Topps Flagship Set! Each set will be broken up into separate categories (position players & pitchers) for each year!
As a new addition to the rookie card stat tracker, we have created a web app that you can use to get up to the minute stats on the 2023 and 2024 Rookie Card class! You can find the app here! Below we will list the top 10 in each category for each year. Enjoy!
*All stats will be calculated through Sunday games
**All stats gathered using Fangraphs as source
***Players shown have a minimum 1 plate appearance at MLB level. Players who do not have at least 1 PA do not make the list!
****Top 10 is based on WAR (open the link for the new app to see other stats!)
Top 10 – 2023 Rookie Card – Position Players
What’s interesting here is how good this rookie class looks as a whole. Forget the fact that Gunnar is in MVP territory, Volpe and Rutschman are putting up Super-Star caliber numbers. Josh Smith and Joey Ortiz are putting up All-Star numbers and while we are at it, don’t sleep on Brice Turang! Not to mention, Bailey, Tovar , and Greene are star players for their respective teams at the moment.
Top 10 – 2024 Rookie Card – Position Players
This won’t surprise anyone, but Elly is holding the top spot for the 2024 class. If he ever figures out the K rate, look out. What a time it is to be a Baltimore fan, so much young talent and so exciting to watch! They are sitting on the two best hitters in the 2023 class, and the #2 & #3 hitters for 2024. You can see the 2024 class may not be as string as 2023, but a year of seasoning and all has something to do with that.
Top 10 – 2023 Rookie Card – Pitchers
Not gonna lie, this is a bit of a flip-flop for me. The 2023 class lacks in comparison to 2024. That said, 2024 benefits from guys who are far more seasoned in professional ball. There is some great potential here though, as Ragans has held the top spot all season with Bibee streaking up the board recently. Mason Miller has caught fire as a closer and has held his spot atop the group all season.
Top 10 – 2024 Rookie Card – Pitchers
Yup, Reese Olson, of 2 wins on the season, has the top spot based on WAR. He has held it all season, and if he only played on a good team! My guess is when Yamamoto gets a couple more starts under his belt he may pass Olson. In time, Shota might also pass him.
Well, that’s fun, right? We are almost half way through the season so these stats are starting to mean something. Enjoy the dog days of baseball!

These and these are my new favorite additions to my shipping arsenal! Make damaged cards a thing of the past! (They both work great!)
Tip #1: If you are looking for a display case, I just bought two of these and like them a lot. Sturdy enough for the price and they look nice, better yet, they won’t break the bank!
Tip #2: After attending a local card show I noticed all the cool kids have one of these! A slab case definitely makes carrying your graded cards around with you a bit easier!
